Jatropha Genetic Micro Stems

A Genetic Micro Stem is a professional cutting that comes from a selected plant (located in a Costa Rican farm) known as Jatropha Curcas.

This special cutting comes from clipping the tips of the mature and tested proven oil yielding mother plants.

This cutting or stem as we call it is of the highest genetic value possible from a tested mother plant. The micro stem is a clone of the Costa Rican grown Jatropha tree.

At the farm on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, our 2005, 3 year old totally organic plantation, serves as a nursery for high quality vegetative material. As we continue to promote to all the public…plant, plant, plant.

Stems or Seeds - Which Do You Need?

The difference between planting seeds and planting micro stems is easy. The Genetic Micro Stem is a living clone of the mother plant whose genetic footprint is well recognized.

So if you plant a Genetic Micro Stem, you will get results much sooner and you are assured the hereditary oil producing genes of the original Costa Rican Mother Plant.

The root structure of the “seed tree” is different than the root structure of a cutting or “stem grown tree”. The “seed grown tree” has been known to endure climate and areas subject to heavy winds. There are 4 lateral roots and 1 tap root with a seed grown plant. The GMS plant without the tap root developes much stronger lateral rooting.

The main difference is clear in the beginning of the production where the stem creates multilateral branching right away. This assures the farmer of a great seed yield with the first crops. ouir research shows that the stem is far superior in its overall genetic pattern. It gives results much sooner after planted (*approx.40% quicker) than the seeds and yields a greater number of fruit per plant (*approx.120%).

All “seed grown trees” depend on pollination for flowering, producing fruit and thus seeds. The cloned micro stem is not dependent on pollination. It blooms and gives fruit right away.
